Your skin is the largest organ in your body so it is incredibly important to take care of it. But your skin can also give you clues about your health too. If you are dealing with acne there are a few things your skin could be trying to tell you.
1. Exhaustion and Stress
Alissa Chasen, an esthetician, acne expert and co-formulator of POREspective Acne Control products said, “Oftentimes a new client develops a severe and sudden onset of cystic acne as the result of a traumatic experience, like a physical altercation, a bad breakup or the death of a family member. These women may have had clogged pores that weren’t evident to them before the incident but became inflamed as a result of increased cortisol levels from the trauma,” Chasen said. “The added stress leads to decreased sleep, which is the perfect recipe for an acne flare-up.”
Chasen always recommends a minimum of eight hours of sleep a night. This kick-starts the healing process before changing your diet or skin care products can be effective.
