Laser hair removal is, without a doubt, the best procedure to permanently reduce hair on all areas of your body. But how does it work? At Laser Smooth Company, we’re aware that the idea of using laser technology on your body can be a little bit intimidating. We’re here to assure you, however, that this technology is not only effective, but safe and specifically designed for minimal discomfort to patients.

Laser Smooth Company uses a technology called the Light Sheer Duet Laser. This technology uses a process called selective photothermalysis or target destruction. That means that it is designed to specifically target hair follicles, assuring that the hair follicles are damaged properly without damaging the epidermis and surrounding tissues. While the temperature of the hair follicle is raised enough to damage the viable hair cells, your skin stays safe.

When the laser hair removal technician presses the Light Sheer Duet Laser to your skin, it first gently draws your skin into the hand piece with a vacuum. This both stretches the skin thin and draws the hair, the target, closer to the energy source. Stretching reduces the density of melanocytes in the skin, and restricts blood vessels, blanching the skin. This means less energy is absorbed by the epidermis and by the oxyhemoglobin. Because less energy is lost to these areas, more energy is focused on the hair follicles. Follicular melanin absorbs the laser energy, building heat and damaging the hair follicle’s ability to regrow.

Following follicular destruction, the debris of hair cells will shed out and will fill with dermal fibers after approximately one month. It is important to note that because each individual hair cell on the body can be found in a different stage of growth (anagen, catagen, or telogen), the process of permanent hair reduction can take between 4 to 8 treatments, spread out over 4 to 6 weeks between each treatment. However, by employing the use of the High-Speed Light Sheer Duet Laser, we are able to reduce treatment times by up to 75%. This technology is truly innovative. The Light Sheer Duet Laser has a spot size of 22 mm x 35 mm. The benefits of the vacuum system and large spot size are that energy delivery is more efficient, lower fluence levels are required, it aids procedure comfort, and there is no need for topical anesthetics.

Laser Smooth Company employs the use of technology that is best suited for your comfort and most efficient hair removal.
